Topic: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

Just released; using XAJAX heavily:

http://www.cocktailbuilder.com

Would love to hear thoughts from the XAJAX community. Like it? Hate it?

Update: had an issue for a few hours, if you looked at the site and it didn't work, do come back and try again :-)

Thanks for an awesome framework!

Re: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

To ChrisWheat: I used the autocomplete script from http://gadgetopia.com/autosuggest/

Re: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

BTW, I just opened a "development chronicles" website to share my experiences creating the cocktail builder. I'm planning to touch upon design decisions I had to make while building the site, and share some tricks I used.

Re: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

Site looks fantastic, thanks for the blog as well, useful insights.

What tools did you use or did you hand craft the lot, any other frameworks as well?

Re: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

I use xajax and just one other tool - ezSQL - a great php-specific abstraction layer for databases (http://www.woyano.com/view/410/PHP-and- … e-Lazy-Sod).

I wrote quite a bit of custom JavaScript - by hand. Debugging-wise, I love FireBug, make sure you have it in your toolbox. I use lots of little tools in the build/checkin processes, I blogged about a few of them already, and will write more.

I used a couple JavaScript libraries - niftyCorners, and JSON-related libraries; also a highly-modified auto-complete script. A couple utility functions from the Prototype framework.

Let me know if you're interested in any more specifics.

Re: CocktailBuilder with XAJAX: Find out what you can make

To nefo: I'm not using any animation library; everything is done by-hand. Here's my code: http://cocktailbuilder.com/js/visuals.js

To prchakal: here's the source code for the stars script: http://cocktailbuilder.com/js/ratings.js
